FORRÓ brings successes of the genre performed by the great accordionist Toninho Ferragutti. The choice of the accordion is as much due to its variety of timbres as it is to being an instrument that represents this kind of music.
Toninho Ferragutti is considered one of the best Brazilian accordionists. He has performed alongside renowned names in Brazilian music such as Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, Chico César, Mônica Salmaso and Ná Ozzetti. He is also a member of the Popular Chamber Orchestra which reunites great instrumentalists from São Paulo.
“Forró” is one of Brazilian musical genres that best represent national culture. It’s origins come from popular parties, with the genre’s records later arriving in Brazilian homes in the forties.
This MPBaby series volume repertory includes Luiz Gonzaga and Humberto Teixeira (Asa Branca e Assum Preto), Gilberto Gil and Dominguinhos (Lamento Sertanejo), Rosil Cavalcanti (Sebastiana), Zé Dantas (Farinhada) and public domain (Cai Cai Balão, A Canoa Virou, Mulher Rendeira) songs.
